Yesterday was our school spelling bee. We are so proud of how everyone did! Camille Davis won and Emily Criqui took second. These ladies will represent MdCV at the county spelling bee.
UPDATE: The water line at the elementary school has been repaired. Classes will resume as normal tomorrow, Thursday, January 18th, 2024.
Despite their school cancelation, tonight's JH GBB @ Burlingame will be played as scheduled. Game time is 5pm.
With the late cancellation of school for elementary students, any elementary student en route via bus will be returned home immediately this morning. Diligence will be performed to ensure safe return. Additionally, if your student has already departed to walk to school, the office hold your student until plans are arranged with home. Please contact the office if you have any questions.
Due to a water line break at the elementary school, there will be no school today. Again this is only the elementary school that is closed, today January 17.
Tomorrow is the MdCV Spelling Bee at the Melvern gym. The public is invited to attend but no one may enter after 2:00 PM. The fourth and fifth-grade students will be attending to support their participating classmates.
Contestants can leave with their parents after the spelling bee. Please let the teachers & the office know before the bee if you are taking your child when it is finished or if they have any different after-school plans than normal.

NOTIFICATION: Due to dangerously low forecasted wind chills for the area, school and extra-curricular activities for Unified School District #456 have been CANCELED for tomorrow, Tuesday, January 16th, 2024. According to the National Weather Service, a Wind Chill Warning has been issued for Osage County, forecasting wind chills as low as 35 below zero until noon on Tuesday. Therefore, in order to keep our students and staff safe during this weather event, school and extra-curricular activities for Unified School District #456 have been CANCELED for tomorrow, Tuesday, January 16th, 2024.

SCHEDULE CHANGE: We apologize for the late notice, but due to a team cancellation, the JH Girls BB game tomorrow at Olpe has been canceled and will not be made up. At this time the JH Boys BB game will be played as scheduled.
NOTIFICATION: Due to the continuing drifting snow and the potential for hazardous conditions for students when returning home, tonight's HS BB game @ Hartford has been postponed. A reschedule date will be determined at a later time.
Shoutout to these ladies as they head to Salina this weekend for their auditions for state band! Good luck girls!

NOTIFICATION: Classes for Unified School District #456 WILL BE IN SESSION tomorrow, Thursday, January 11th, 2024. However, many country roads are still hazardous and pose a risk for busses getting stuck during routes. Therefore, the district will only be running the school shuttle routes tomorrow. If your student rides the bus and you would like them to ride the shuttle, please be sure to have your student at either school by 7:30am. If your student is on a bus route and unable to make it to school otherwise, please contact the office directly tomorrow. In all instances, please take it slow, building administration will be understanding as students arrive.
