Five matches. Ten sets. One more championship for the Lady Trojans.
Marais des Cygnes Valley captured its third consecutive Lyon County League Volleyball Tournament championship Saturday, October 10, at White Auditorium in Emporia. The Lady Trojans finished a perfect 5–0 without dropping a set, closing the day with a 25–22, 25–21 victory over Lebo in the championship match.
MdCV entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed after earning the regular-season league championship with a spotless 7–0 LCL record. On Saturday, the Lady Trojans backed up that top seed with another outstanding performance.
The team opened pool play with a 25–9, 25–4 win over Hartford, followed by a 25–20, 25–10 victory over Burlingame. Northern Heights provided a closer test, but MdCV secured both sets, 25–19 and 25–22, to finish pool play undefeated.
The Lady Trojans carried that momentum into the semifinals, defeating Olpe 25–16, 25–13 to earn their place in the championship match against second-seeded Lebo.
The final brought two competitive sets between league rivals. MdCV came out on top in both, winning 25–22 and 25–21 to bring home the tournament trophy for the third straight year.
With tournament championships in 2024, 2025, and now 2026, the Lady Trojans continue to give our school and communities plenty to celebrate. This year’s sweep of the regular-season and tournament titles adds another proud chapter to MdCV volleyball.
Winning one championship is an accomplishment. Coming back and earning it three years in a row takes continued commitment from players and coaches. We are proud of the work this team puts in and the way these young women represent the orange and blue.
Congratulations to our Lady Trojans and coaches, and thank you to the families, students, and fans who support them along the way!
Three straight tournament titles. Proud to be a Trojan!
