There’s no place like Homecoming at MdCV! 🔵🟠
Homecoming 2026 is officially underway, and our students have already had a great weekend and Monday evening together. This year’s theme is “There’s No Place Like Homecoming,” with activities inspired by The Wizard of Oz throughout the week.
Homecoming kicked off Saturday night with a showing of The Wizard of Oz. The original plan was a Movie on the Football Field, but Kansas weather had other ideas, so the movie was moved inside to the gym. The location may have changed, but the opportunity for our students to spend time together and kick off Homecoming Week did not!
On Sunday, students continued the tradition by decorating downtown windows, bringing a little Trojan spirit into the Melvern community.
Monday evening, students gathered at Melvern Park for the Homecoming Tailgate & Bonfire. Students roasted hot dogs and s’mores, played basketball, cornhole and other games, and simply enjoyed spending time together. Looking at the pictures, that is really what these activities are all about—giving our students opportunities to make memories with their classmates outside the school day.
And we’re just getting started! Spirit Week continues with Follow the Yellow Brick Road on Tuesday, A Walk in the Poppies on Wednesday, and Which Witch is Which? on Thursday before everyone breaks out the BLUE & ORANGE for Friday’s “There’s No Place Like MdCV” celebration.
Friday will feature our Homecoming Pep Rally at 3:00 p.m., followed by the Homecoming Crowning Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. and Trojan Football taking on Lost Springs-Centre at 7:00 p.m. The week wraps up Saturday evening with the Homecoming Dance from 8:00–10:00 p.m.
A big thank you to Mrs. Lisa Reeser, our Student Council members, staff, students, and everyone helping behind the scenes to make Homecoming Week special for our kids.
We hope to see a lot of BLUE & ORANGE in the stands Friday night!
