The first-ever MdCV Winter Olympics officially came to a close on Wednesday, February 18, marking the end of an exciting, action-packed event that brought students together through sport, teamwork, and global learning.

The adventure began with each class selecting a country to represent. Students researched their chosen nations, learning about culture and geography, and carefully recreated their country’s flag by hand to proudly display throughout the competition. The project blended athletics with education, giving students a broader understanding of the world beyond the gym walls.

The games kicked off with a spirited hockey tournament. Students showed impressive enthusiasm and determination, with several matchups turning into highly competitive showdowns that had classmates cheering from the sidelines.

Next came the individual speed skating event — a highlight for many. Using mesh jerseys to glide across the gym floor, participants slipped and slid their way to the finish line, creating moments of laughter and unforgettable fun.

Curling quickly became a crowd favorite. Students used scooters as makeshift stones, learning how to control their push and release to guide them toward their targets. As the event progressed, many competitors began mastering their technique, demonstrating focus and growing confidence.

The final competition, a team biathlon, brought both intensity and suspense. Once again donning mesh jerseys as skis, students navigated the gym before aiming at bowling pins with dodgeballs. The event featured dramatic finishes, with several teams believing they had secured victory — only to be overtaken in the final moments by determined competitors.

The Winter Olympics concluded with a closing ceremony on February 18, where students were awarded medals in recognition of their efforts and achievements.
