Register
for a Kansas State Library Card
Students and area residents of Kansas may register for a Kansas
Library Card at any public or school library. Having the card
entitles the holder to certain benefits, such as access to Homework
Kansas and research databases like InfoTrac, FirstSearch, or
the Literature Resource Center. These databases are provided by the
State Library of Kansas and Kan-Ed, a program created by the Kansas
Legislature and administered through the Kansas Board of
Regents.
In order to acquire a Kansas Library Card, the librarian will need a patron’s first and last name, middle initial and birthdate. With this information, the state library system will issue a pin number that is valid for only one year, unless it is renewed. Each time the patron wishes to use the state sponsored databases or tutor help from Homework Kansas, the patron will be required to enter their assigned pin number and birthdate.
