Meet Danny Rice

September 15, 2006

I was raised in Melvern by my family including my parents, three brothers and two sisters with me being the youngest.  I attended Melvern Elementary and joined the newly consolidated Junior High at Quenemo when I was in the seventh grade.  I then attended Marais des Cygnes Valley High School. I participated in most of the activities in school including football, basketball, track, band, school musicals, and of course agriculture education and the FFA. After high school I attended Ft. Scott Community College on a Livestock Judging scholarship and then onto Kansas State University (GO CATS) where I received my degree in Agriculture Education. I am married to my wife Terry and have two daughters Allie and Jamie. In my Agriculture Education department I teach rotating courses of Agriculture Orientation, Animal Science, Plant/Soil Science, Wildlife Management, Equine Science, Ag Mechanics, and Ag Business Management. I am also the FFA Advisor, East Central District KAAE Treasurer, Assistance High School Football and Basketball coach. In my community, I am one of the Melvern Jr. High-Line 4-H Leaders and I am on the Osage County Extension Council. Away from school I enjoy spending time outside working with our animals including horses, cattle, dogs and the girls’ 4-H sheep. I enjoy hunting and fishing and spending time with my family.
