MdCV graduate invited to play in all-star game

David Becker, a 2007 graduate of Marais des Cygnes Valley High School, was selected to play in the 22nd Annual Eight-Man All-Star Football game, which was played Saturday, June 9, in Beloit. A 5'10", 205-pound guard/tackle, David played for the East Team in this Division 1 game that pitted East vs. West. The final score was West 42, East 30.
The game was sponsored by the Kansas 8-Man Association, the Beloit Rotary Club and the Beloit Knights of Columbus.
Athletic honors during David's high school career include being selected all-county first team for three years; honorable mention, all-league first team two years; and all-area, all-district and all-class one year.
His individual statistics include 145 solo tackles, 77 assists, 12 sacks/tackles for loss, 6 fumble recoveries and 1 interception. Besides football, David was also a regional track competitor all four years of high school and a member of the sub-state qualifying basketball team his senior year. In addition, he was a state finalist for the Wendy's Heisman Award.
David is the son of Dwight and Debbie Becker. He plans to study agricultural engineering at Kansas State University beginning with the 2007 fall semester. He graduated with a 4.0 GPA and was a state scholarship test winner in algebra.
