New databases added to state library website

Important resource for reports and research

Mrs. Cope

Book 2Beginning August 1, 2010, changes were made to the list of statewide databases available on the State Library of Kansas website ( www.kslib.info ). This is an important resource for students because of its easy access to news and information when creating reports or conducting research for school projects. Adults will find useful information there as well, such as HeritageQuest for genealogy enthusiasts, Chilton’s Auto Repair for the do-it-yourselfer, also references relating to health, medical, business, or consumer interests.

Gone are the following databases: Novelist, Newspaper Source, Student Research Center, Kid Search, TopicSearch, ERIC, and Searchasaurus. New databases include the following:  Kids Info Bits for students in K-5, Junior Reference and Discovering Collection for middle school students, History Resource Center (U.S. and World) for both high school and middle school, and Books and Authors, which allows users to browse information about books by titles, genres, or authors.

To view or access these databases, click on the "Explore Our Resources" link in the yellow box at the top of the State Library of Kansas website.
