MdCV Middle School Receives Honor

The Confidence in Kansas Public Education Task Force announced
that Marais des Cygnes Middle School has been awarded a Certificate
of Merit as part of the 6th Annual Challenge Awards. This award
recognizes schools for outstanding achievement and uncommon
accomplishment based on Kansas Assessment results from 2009 and
other qualifying factors. Marais des Cygnes Middle School has been
honored as a result of its performance on the 7th Grade Math
assessment.
For each of the fourteen state assessments, 60 schools were originally identified as high performing. In all, 132 certificates were awarded with 20 buildings receiving two or more awards. They represent 64 different school districts.
A recognition dinner has been scheduled for November 12th in Salina. Attendees will be joined by members of the Kansas State Board of Education, the Commissioner of Education, the Deputy Commissioner of Education, and members of the Confidence in Kansas Public Education Task Force. Eight statewide organizations comprise the Task Force. They include the American Association of University Women, the Kansas Congress of Parents and Teachers, the Kansas Association of School Boards, the Kansas National Education Association, the Kansas School Public Relations Association, the Kansas State Board of Education, the Kansas State High School Activities Association, Inc., and the United School Administrators of Kansas.
