Eragon by Christopher Paolini
a book review by R. Peer for Team Puckett
October 06, 2008
A farm boy finds a blue stone that falls out of the sky. The next day, the blue stone hatches into a baby dragon. Eragon touches the dragon, which results in his being turned into one of the legendary Dragon Riders. Soon after, Eragon discovers that the storyteller, who is a several hundred years old, was once a Dragon Rider too. Together they head out, after Eragon's uncle is killed by the Rozac, who are ancient demons. Later Eragon and the storyteller rescue an elf from the clutches of an evil shade. Eventually, however, they have to make it to the rebel forces, called the Varden. In return, the Varden will lead Eragon to the elves, who will train him about magic, and thus enable him to battle the evil ruler Galbatorix and his dragon Shurikan. (133 words)
