The Wizard’s Daughter by Catherine Coulter

Book Review for Team Thurston (No Namers)

Kaley W.

March 23, 2008

The beginning of this book was mysterious and very well written. The middle almost all the way to the end was both exciting and well thought, not to mention immensely detailed. The end unfortunately was unsatisfying to the the reader. It seemed like the writer was tired and just ready to finish it, because the other 15 chapters of detailed, capture-the-imagination, unforgettable writing was crammed into two very short and unbelievably cut-off chapters.

However, despite the intimacy in a few chapters and the end, it was more or less a very good book that could very well steal any reader’s attention.

If the author would rewrite the end with the same dedication she had in the beginning, I would have to say it would be one of the best books I’ve ever read. (133 words)

03/23/2008 I know exactly what you mean when the ending of a book seems too rushed. When I read the Misadventures of Maude March ( a William Allen White award nominee ) I plodded along with the characters every step of the way, and then the ending just seemed too conveniently thrown together -- and then I found out there is a sequel in the making, so no wonder it ended the way it did.

03/29/2008 I've read several books with unsatisfying endings. The Old Willis Place, also a William Allen White book, ended with something totally off subject from the rest of the book. Even though the ending can be really bad in a book, the rest can entertain readers.

04/04/2008 Kaley, I too read a book with an ending that left me angry. The book was well written, but I did not like the ending. The message of the book was unclear. After collaborating with Mrs. Kewley I came to realize the theme was "Dare to Disturb the Universe." Is it worth it to march to the beat of a different drummer? I had to think and bounce ideas off both students and staff to find the moral of this story. This book was recommended to me by a student who was a nonreader- the paperback inspired him to read other books by the same author. "The Chocolate War" by Robert Cormier.

04/11/2008 I know of a few books like that. But that book sounds good for the most part.

04/16/2008 This book sounds good. I would read it. I enjoy reading mystery books. I think Kaley did a good job at writing this. Her review is very detailed and explained a lot.
