FFA Information
September 15, 2006
The Marais des Cygnes Valley FFA Chapter was established in 1981 with 16 members all of which were young men. Today, the membership has grown to an average of 45 members with around 50% of them being female. This year we expect to be at our average membership numbers. Like agriculture, our chapter has changed with the times. Although, we have fewer members coming from farm families the members have not allowed that to stop them from learning about agriculture and the FFA Leadership that they experience. We have had members take advantage of the leadership skills taught at Marais des Cygnes Valley FFA and the chapter has been blessed to have had five Kansas State FFA Officers; Emily Harsch, Jennifer Burkdoll, Jason Lacey, Jill Casten and Lori Alexander as well as thirteen East Central District Officers; Susan Gish, Becky Clemons, Emily Harsch, Jennifer Burkdoll, Steve Lichtenauer, Mindy White, Jennifer Casten, Jason Lacey, Jill Casten, Lori Alexander, Janae Casten, Jarah Casten and Ashley Phelon.
The nearly one half-million student FFA members across the nation engage themselves in a wide range of agriculture education activities, leading to over 300 career opportunities in the agriculture science , food, fiber and natural resources industry.
The
National FFA Organization Mission:
FFA makes a
positive difference in the lives of students by developing their
potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career
success through agriculture education.
Our chapter stays incredibly busy during the course of the year. Please follow us on the website and local newspapers to see what the MdCV FFA Chapter has been up to and will be doing.
