Summer Library 2009

August 10, 2009

The library at MdCV Elementary School at Quenemo was open Tuesday mornings in June and July to check out library books to students for their reading pleasure. Some students even used the computers during their visit before leaving the library. Each time a child returned a book, the child stamped a spot on their record sheet to track the number of books he or she read over the summer.

During one session in June, children of all ages participated in acting out the story of Mouse, Look Out! and using finger puppets during the reading of a picture book titled Cat and Mouse.  These activities were part of the summer library theme “Be Creative @ Your Library.”

On July 30, a large majority of students who attended summer school or summer library at Marais des Cygnes Valley Elementary School participated in a “BBQ lunch” at the MdCV Elementary. Students attending summer school also presented a series of reader’s theater skits in front of an audience of peers and parents, followed by a presentation of certificates of participation. Lunch consisted of hamburgers, chips, soda, and an ice cream treat.
