April 21, 2008

This book is about a family that lives in Oklahoma during the Dust Bowl. Billy Jo is a young girl who has a passion for playing the piano. Her ma stays home and tends to the house and she is very pregnant. Pa is a farmer.

One day Pa put kerosene in a bucket next to the stove and it caught fire, so Ma ran outside to yell for Pa and Billy threw the bucket outside, accidentally burning Ma really bad and Billy’s hand. Later Ma dies while giving birth. Billy won’t play the piano any more because of her burned hands. Read the book to find how the rest of the story goes.

This is a good book that was hard to put down. (125 words)
