WAW Book Award Poster Contest
For students in grades 3-5 and 6-8

The 56th annual William Allen White Children's Book Awards Ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, October 4, 2008, in Emporia. To celebrate this event, schools across Kansas are encouraged to submit entries for the statewide William Allen White Awards Poster Contest. The deadline to submit entries is Friday, September 19, 2008.
Posters will be displayed in the W.L. White Auditorium in Emporia on October 4 in conjunction with the White Book Awards Ceremony. Students attending the ceremony will vote for their favorite poster. First, second, and third place prizes will be awarded in two categories: 3rd-5th grade students and 6th-8th grade students. Prizes will be awarded to winners in both categories.
Posters should be created on 12-inch x 18-inch prices of construction paper. The posters may represent one or more books from the 2007-2008 White Award Master Lists. The following information must be included on the back of each poster: student's name, student's grade and name of the student's school. All posters will become the property of the William Allen White Children's Book Awards Program. Entries will be accepted from public, private and home-school students.
Each school or library should pre-judge and send the five best posters from their school Friday, September 19, 2008, to: White Awards Poster Contest, William Allen White Library, Emporia State University, Box 4051, 1200 Commercial Street, Emporia, KS 66801.
