IHT wants your business
Do you have a project for them?
March 10, 2008
In-House Training
(IHT) is designed as a training ground for high school students to
apply a variety of skills learned in previous business classes,
such as Computer Applications, Word, Excel, and Web Design. The
goal of the class is to simulate a business environment where
students work for teachers, staff and community in an
employer/employee relationship. The actual content of the course is
derived from outside sources, requiring students to work on
projects in a professional and business like manner, in accordance
with acceptable standards and established deadlines.
Routine school
projects include production of programs for athletic events, the
district calendar and newsletter. In the past, they have also
created MdCV Visitor name tags, and coupon books as a
organizational fund-raiser for Future Consumers and Community
Leaders of America (FCCLA).
For teachers, IHT has fulfilled many requests, including alphabet
booklets for the elementary, handbooks that contain information
related to ACT and career planning, specially designed elementary
report cards, and diplomas for kindergarten graduation.
For the
community, IHT has created flyers, such as the one advertising the
train calendars sold by Melvern Pride, certificates for “Relay for
Life,” tickets for special events, menus and brochures.
Examples of what IHT has created for individuals include a family
recipe book and flyers to sell dogs. IHT will work with the client
to create whatever he or she needs. To accomplish these projects,
IHT has access to a binding machine that creates spiral notebooks,
a scanner to copy pictures or logos, and a color printer. A color
charge of 50¢ per sheet is typically charged to help cover the cost
of the printer cartridge, but other than that, the work is usually
done free of charge or for a small fee, depending on the cost of
materials. For example, card stock will involve an additional cost,
and sometimes, clients will personally provide the actual material
they want used.
For any questions about a project and its possible cost, contact business teacher Tammy Vanderpool at the Melvern Attendance Center.
