Grant encourages enrollment at ESU, FHTC

To benefit students graduating in 2008

The Walter S. and Evan C. Jones Foundation is offering a Tuition Voucher Program to high school graduates and GED recipients currently living in Osage, Lyon and Coffey counties. To receive the grant, students must attend either Emporia State University or Flint Hills Technical College in Emporia.The grant itself is worth a total of $1,000, or $500 per semester.

Recipients must be either a high school senior graduating in the current school year, or a student who has received a GED in the past two school years. In addition, the student must meet admission requirements and be eligible to attend as a freshman.

Established in 1974, the Walter S. and Evan C. Jones Foundation is a private foundation that assists eligible families seeking financial help with medical, dental and vision expenses to persons under the age of 21, and who have resided for at least one continuous year in Coffey, Lyon, or Osage counties prior to making application for assistance. They also provide assistance with post-secondary education to individuals in the form of grants for tuition and books -- regardless of age -- according to the established guidelines.
