Schools collect used printer cartridges, Box Tops coupons, and designated food labels
Year-long fundraisers by MdCV schools
September 29, 2007
The community can help the school attendance centers at Melvern and Quenemo by participating in any one or all three of their year-long fundraising activities. These fundraisers include recycling used cartridges, collecting Best Choice or Campbell's Soup labels, and clipping specially marked General Mills products displaying the Box Tops for Education coupon.
The Pre-school is collecting Best Choice labels with UPC codes, and Campbell' s Soup labels that display the Labels for Education™ logo near the UPC. In addition to Campbell' s Soup, other redeemable brands include Prego® pasta sauce, Pepperidge Farm®, Goldfish® crackers, and caps of V8® beverages. For more information, visit Labels for Education.
Box Tops
Also, look for the 10-cent Box Tops coupon on hundreds of General Mills food products. You can find Box Tops for Education coupons on brands such as Cherrios®, Betty Crocker®, Pillsbury®, Ziploc®, Kleenex®, Hefty®, Yoplait®, Hamburger Helper®, Nature Valley®, Huggies® and other grocery items. For a complete list of eligible products, visit the following website: BoxTops4Education. This program specifically benefits students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
Printer Cartridges
Marais des Cygnes Valley Schools are participating in Staples Recycle for Education. For each used cartridge that is eligible for recycling, Staples will pay the school district $3. This not only helps the school, but it also helps protect the environment. The money received will then be used to purchase additional supplies for the computers and printers in the district schools.
Members of the community can help by sending their empty inkjet or toner cartridges to school with a student in the district. Used laser cartridges should be sent in a box, which can be accomplished by simply re-using the packaging from any new cartridge.
Only those cartridges which can be refilled and reused are eligible for the recycling program. Nevertheless, Staples will also accept any cartridge — recyclable or not — in order to protect the environment to the fullest extent. The ineligible cartridges will be recycled for plastic and metal content only.
Below is a list of recyclable cartridges. Staples, however, is always adding new eligible cartridges, so for the most up-to-date list, visit Staples Recycles For Education.
