September 10, 2007
This story -- part detective, part mystery -- is based on the theory that William Shakespeare did not really write all the theatrical plays attributed to him. The plot itself takes flight as characters begin looking for a diamond that is allegedly hidden in the house once belonged to a modern-day descendant of this supposed alternate Shakespearean persona.
Characters:
Hero Netherfield, her sister Beatrice, Mr. and Mrs.
Netherfield, Mrs. Roth, Danny Cordova
Setting:
beginning of the school.year, the "Murphy diamond house," Ogden
Elementary School, the police station
Historical references are made to Shakespeare's play Much Ado About Nothing; Edward de Vere: the "secret Shakespeare" from Oxford; William Shakespeare from Stratford; Anne Boleyn, the wife of Henry VIII; and Queen Elizabeth I
